There is something magical about growing your own food.

Growing herbs is a great way to enhance culinary experiences. It's also very therapeutic .

One day while quarantining this year I decided to buy a rosemary plant. That quickly lead to thyme, mint, oregano, and many others. Next I decided to start growing from seed and include vegetables in my garden. And this is on a balcony!

Nowadays I am often inspired to cook a new dish just because I want to use some newly harvested herbs.

I have a few tips for anyone who is thinking of starting an herb and vegetable garden:

Tip #1: Start with several varieties of mint and thyme.

Tip #2: Buy starter plants but don't be afraid to start growing from seed in parallel; there are lessons to be learned by doing both

Tip #3: Buy a nice notebook that you'll keep around that's solely used to keep a log of your observations
